just the idea that both the rat and the cat are friends.
well here's some work in progress
Original line work had whiskers on the mouse. It was an accident that happen while inking it, thank god for photoshop
my layouts for the colors. Wanted to have a sense of distance between the colors, even though the BG is blue and the foreground rat is blue also.
Working on the cat immediately because it head takes up so much space and is going to be one with a lot of shape and definition.
Building up the rat and experimenting with texture
playing with lighting and shadows.
and finally adding rim light, using the background as inspiration for the light that would bounce back. Or the Table for the orange hue to the mouse. Both of them have a style of lighting that helps them pop out.
